Claire Villars-Lurton is the owner of Château Haut-Bages Libéral in Pauillac and Château Ferrière in Margaux. She originally pursued an academic path and was working in Paris on a doctorate in applied physics and archaeology before joining the family wine business. Today, she is known for a strongly origin-driven, organic, and biodynamic approach in Bordeaux. Château Haut-Bages Libéral has been certified organic since 2019 and biodynamic by Demeter since 2021; Château Ferrière, a 3rd Grand Cru Classé, has been certified organic since 2015 and biodynamic by Demeter since 2018. Together with Gonzague Lurton, Claire Villars-Lurton represents a Bordeaux generation that places origin, living soils, and finesse at the centre.
