Furmint as Central Europe’s New Star

Details

Furmint was long associated above all with Tokaj. Today the old Central European variety is moving back into focus: for its distinctive acidity, its ability to express origin with precision, and its potential under drier, warmer conditions.

Wojciech Bońkowski MW, a specialist in the wines of Central Europe, presents selected Furmints in this tasting and places them in context. The tasting shows how varied the interpretations can be, from mineral and taut to complex and long-lived, and why the variety is finding new attention among a younger generation of winemakers and sommeliers.
