Burgundy is a region that defines itself again and again, quietly but consistently. Alongside the great, established names, a new generation of winemakers is emerging who develop their own signature with clarity, precision, and a fine feel for origin. This signature tasting at the Burg Vital Resort follows precisely this movement.

The evening begins with wines of the „new guard“, including Tino Kuban and William Kelley, who show how much tension and energy currently lies in the region. This perspective is complemented by Bernard-Bonin, whose Meursault stands as an example of a stylistic move towards greater precision and elegance.

The focus then shifts to the established greats of Burgundy. With wines by Cécile Tremblay and Perrot-Minot, the diversity of great Pinot Noir interpretations becomes tangible, before a Grand Échezeaux from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, one of the region’s defining references, comes into the glass.

The evening closes with aged Marc de Bourgogne from the DRC house, a rare and at the same time coherent finale that broadens the arc of the evening once more.

The tasting is accompanied by a menu from the two-Michelin-starred Griggeler Stuba that complements the wines with precision without placing itself in the foreground.

The evening is moderated by Stephan Klettner, Head Sommelier of the Burg Vital Resort and currently Austria’s best sommelier, together with Philipp Schäffer, wine merchant and recognised Burgundy specialist. Both accompany the tasting with well-grounded background knowledge, personal insight, and the perspective of two profound experts on a region in continual development.
