Wine Dinner Château Pichon Comtesse

Details

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande counts among the great names of the Médoc, a 2ème Cru Classé in Pauillac defined by elegance, precision, and remarkable longevity. Together with Château de Pez, one of the oldest estates in Saint-Estèphe, it forms an interesting tension between classical origin and contemporary interpretation today.

Since the takeover by the Rouzaud family (Champagne Roederer) and under the leadership of Nicolas Glumineau, the estate has developed consistently. Vinicultural precision, biodynamic-influenced vineyard work, and a clear style stand at the centre: less extraction, more balance, structure, and expression of terroir.

At the wine dinner in the Burg Hotel, this development becomes tangible across several vintages. The tasting spans Château de Pez 2020 and 2019, Réserve de la Comtesse 2016, through to Pichon Comtesse in selected vintages: 2018, 2016, 2010, 2006 (magnum), and 1999 (jéroboam).

A multi-layered look at maturity, style, and origin unfolds, from the youthful expression to the depth of aged wines. The evening is accompanied by a six-course menu from the Burg that complements the wines with precision without overlaying them.

An evening on time, structure, and the question of what truly defines great Bordeaux wines.
