The Douro Boys with rare Ports
Great Ports mature over decades and speak of houses, vintages, and patience. Amanda Wassmer-Bulgin moderates a rare tasting with Daniel van der Niepoort, Francisco Olazabal, Tomas Roquette, and João Roquette.
Port belongs to the great long-distance wines of the world. Vintage Port, Tawny, and Colheita can endure for decades, gaining depth, complexity, and quiet authority along the way.
In this tasting, representatives of the Douro Boys open rare bottles and exceptional releases from their family houses. Present are Daniel van der Niepoort of Niepoort, Francisco Olazabal of Quinta do Vale Meão, João Roquette of Quinta do Vallado, and Tomas Roquette of Quinta do Crasto. Amanda Wassmer-Bulgin guides the tasting, combining sommelier precision with the question of what maturity, origin, and house style truly mean in the Douro.
Born in Salisbury, England, in 1984, Amanda Wassmer-Bulgin first discovered her passion for gastronomy through cooking, but found her professional home in service and wine.
