Philipp Wittmann
Philipp Wittmann leads Weingut Wittmann in Westhofen, Rheinhessen, today in the eleventh generation. During his training, he worked at Dr. Bassermann-Jordan and Siegrist and gained further experience through travels to wine regions across Europe and beyond. In 1999, he completed his degree in viticulture and oenology in Geisenheim and took over responsibility for the family estate, whose roots date back to 1663. He committed early on to organic, biodynamic, and sustainable viticulture. His Riesling Grosses Gewächs wines from vineyards such as Morstein, Brunnenhäuschen, and Kirchspiel are regularly counted among the best in Germany. Beyond this, Wittmann has helped shape the development of German wine as long-standing Chairman of VDP.Rheinhessen, co-initiator of Maxime Herkunft Rheinhessen, and Vice President of the VDP.
