For many, Riesling is the crowning of white wines. Riesling can translate origin with rare precision. Romana Echensperger MW opens the symposium with Jean Trimbach, Philipp Wittmann, and Niki Saahs, and presents three great sites from Alsace, Rheinhessen, and the Wachau.
Hardly any other variety renders site, climate, and vintage as clearly readable as Riesling. To open the symposium, Romana Echensperger MW leads a tasting that places three internationally sought-after origins side by side: Schlossberg Grand Cru from Alsace with Jean Trimbach, Westhofener Morstein from Rheinhessen with Philipp Wittmann, and Steinriesler from the Wachau with Niki Saahs.
At the centre stands not loud superlatives but the question of how Riesling renders origin, maturity, style, and signature visible across vintages, precise, long-lived, and open to renewed interpretation.
