Zieregg ranks among Austria’s greatest white wine vineyards. Situated directly on the Slovenian border in Southern Styria, its limestone-rich soils, distinctive microclimate and long winemaking tradition create exceptional conditions for Sauvignon Blanc, producing wines of remarkable character, complexity and ageing potential.

The Tement family has become inseparable from the story of Zieregg. For decades, they have shaped the development of this extraordinary vineyard and played a significant role in establishing Styrian Sauvignon Blanc among the world’s finest white wines. Under Armin Tement, the family’s approach to viticulture and winemaking has continued to evolve, with a particular emphasis on terroir, biodynamic farming and the potential of extended ageing.

With ZIEREGG IZ and ZIEREGG XT, Tement has created two remarkable interpretations of this vineyard that go far beyond the conventional concept of a single-vineyard wine.

IZ stands for “Interzelluläre Gärung” (intracellular fermentation) – a distinctive winemaking technique in which whole, intact berries ferment in an oxygen-free environment. The result is an individual expression of Zieregg, revealing new aromatic and structural dimensions of this exceptional terroir.

XT stands for “Extra Time” and refers to an exceptionally extended period of ageing on the lees. This additional time lends the wine remarkable structural depth and reveals another dimension of Zieregg.
